About The Lail Family
This is the Lail Family tree. This tree follows the pureblood line of Meredith Lail's father's family. Everyone through her father is a pureblood witch or wizard and they're proud of it. Martin Lail is the first to ever marry a muggle and have children and has been disowned and shunned by all but one of his relatives, his youngest sister Avalynn.

The Lail Family was split into two branches five generations previous to the current one. Edmund Lail's twin sons argued over who should be the heir to the Lail Family. Technically, Edgar was born first, but Glen felt that he was clearly the better son. He was smarter, and more refined than his twin. Edgar didn't deny this, but this wasn't to say he didn't fit the pureblood bill. He was a proud and pure wizard and was deserving of his role as heir. When it was decided that the older son would be the heir, Glen was furious. He packed up and moved to Washington state and started his family there. This divided the Lail Family into two feuding branches, the Tennessee branch and the Washington branch.

The one thing both branches could agree on was the value of the purity of their bloodlines. The members of the Lail family were careful to only marry purebloods that they found adequate. Never in their wildest dreams would they marry into a family of anything less than pure. So it was a huge blow to the family when one of the sons from the Tennessee branch (known as the 'true branch') didn't marry a pureblood. Of anyone he could've picked, he chose a muggle woman. The news travelled quickly throughout the family and reached the ears of the Washington branch who already despised them. Martin Lail was quickly disowned and was never to be spoken of within the family. As much as it hurt him, he turned his back on them, knowing that it wasn't worth it to him to give up the love of his life because of her blood. The only one to stay in touch was his youngest sister, Avalynn Lail-Callahan. She wouldn't turn her back on anyone in the family no matter how awful a deed they did.

Martin Lail brought his family up without the strict teachings of the pureblood community he himself grew up in. His wife, Faye Reeson-Lail, understands how her husband's family feels about her, since she grew up in a wealthy society with the same basic prejudices against that weren't in the same class as her family. Though he may be disowned, Martin Lail is far from poor.
